Rugby Ohio to Host All-Star HS Tournament in June
The high school select side tournaments are coming back.
After last month's news that the Rocky Mountain Challenge will return, another tournament has been announced with the Rugby Ohio Buckeye Invitational June 25-26 in Dublin, Ohio.
This is a new event, although Ohio has hosted regional select-side tournaments before. This event at the Darree Fields in Dublin, just northwest of the state capital of Columbus, with six full-size grass fields.
The tournament will consist of 5 divisions: Boys High School Tier 1, Boys High School Tier 2, Girls High School Tier 1, Girls High School Tier 2, and Boys Middle School Open. The Tier 1 divisions are intended to be for those teams wishing to compete at the highest level in the nation, while the Tier 2 divisions offer competition for teams who may not consider themselves strong enough for the Tier 1 division. The plan is for two shortened seeding games on Saturday and two shortened playoff games on Sunday.
“[I am] glad to see this event taking shape and offering the opportunity for a range of all star teams to compete across multiple age bands," said Salty Thompson, Director of Eagle Impact Rugby Academy and former USA High School All American coach. "With the RCTs gone, this is an event that fills the void and should be attractive for a significant number of state selects and academy type programs.”
There will also be a College Row at the event.
Team registration is open and can be accessed here>> Cost to enter is $500 per team.
