Penn HS defeated Archbishop Moeller 20-12 in a crossborder meeting of Indiana vs Ohio.
Improving from a two-loss Lindenwood Tournament last week, Penn played strong defense against a big Moeller outfit. Moeller scored early after the opening kickoff was dropped by Penn. But Penn replied with two tries to lead 12-5. They built on that lead with a try and a penalty goal for a 20-5 advantage before Moeller scored late.
Penn Head Coach Bart Bottorff said he felt this team left as many as three tries unclaimed.
Junior No. 8 (and potentially a prop later in life) Wally Kennach was impressive on the day and scored two, making it four tries in three games. New flanker Carson Reed also impressed.
