Panther Rugby Academy announces a long-term partnership between PRA and the Sharks Rugby Academy.
This exciting pairing aims to develop and nurture the next generation of USA Rugby Elites while exposing young athletes to South African rugby culture.
"Right now South African Rugby is leading the world," said PRA Boardmember Mike Orefice. "We believe that giving our young athletes the opportunity to immerse themselves in and around rugby culture in one of the leading rugby nations in the world will change the way they play as well as how they view the game. Last year we had two of our young men attend the Academy, and both are now playing at the highest collegiate level in the USA."
Through this collaboration, the Panther Rugby Academy has established the Panther-Shark Rugby Scholarship.
Currently available for male high school-level players born in 2006 or 2007, the scholarship will provide talented young athletes with the opportunity to receive world-class training, insightful mentorship, and access to top-tier facilities at the Sharks Academy. The scholarship will support promising Panther Rugby players in their academic and athletic growth that can clear pathways to furthering their rugby careers.
Longtime supporter of PRA from Atlanta Youth Rugby, Gareth Morgan, is the architect and benefactor of this program. Gareth sent his son, Nick, to the program last year and he benefited greatly from it, and from there Gareth pushed for more PRA players to benefit from the Sharks Academy program.
