MLR Draft Registration Deadline Friday
MLR Draft Registration Deadline Friday
Major League Rugby's deadline to register for the 2021 collegiate draft is Friday, August 6.
The draft itself will be held August 19. US and Canadian collegiate rugby players who want to be considered for signing with an MLR team have to register for the draft and go through the draft process. According to league rules, even if you don't get drafted, you have to have gone through the process to sign as an undrafted free agent.
So if you are a college rugby player who wants to sign with a Major League Rugby team over the next 12 months, you need to enter the draft first—that's the MLR policy.
To enter the draft, you must have completed at least three years of college or be over 21, and must have been enrolled in aUS or Canadian college in the 2020-2021 school year (and can prove that).

The MLR Draft Returns: Player Beware
Currently about 110 players from 75 different colleges have been announced as entering the draft and being labeled as eligible. The Draft will run three rounds, with 13 teams choosing in each round. All 12 current MLR teams, plus newcomers the Dallas Jackals, will pikc, although there could well be trades (DC Glory has already shipped its first-round pick to RUNY for Dmontae Noble).
Foreign players who attend US and Canadian colleges should go through the draft, but they may well be subject to foreigner restrictions on their future MLR team.
