Massively Diverse List of Teams at LA Sevens End of Summer Bash
It's time for the End of Summer Bash, the tournament surrounding the LA Sevens Sevens World Series, and at least 60, likely many more, teams are set to play in the tournament-around-a-tournament.
The End of Summer Bash is August 27-28 at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, Calif. during the LA Sevens, and fans and players will be able to go in and out of the stadium throughout the weekend and see both events.
The teams include:
Roots Family Rugby, an African-American-centered rugby program that started in the New York area and has played and won in Las Vegas, New York, and London. Roots will field a team in the Men's Elite and Women's Elite brackets.
The Broncos are a team out of Lagos, Nigeria that also play rugby league. They will have a team in the Men's Premier 7s.
Pasefika Rugby is a program out of Hawaii that provides high-level competition for kids in that state. They have had players suit up for the Eagle Impact Rugby Academy touring sides and their Girls U18 team were Plate runners-up at the NAI 7s. Pasefika will be in the Girls HS bracket.
MacDowell Rugby. Out of Vancouver Island in British Columbia, MacDowell Rugby is a rugby academy that also helps players work toward school credit as they progress toward their HS diploma. The person who runs it? Wait for it ... Robin MacDowell. Logical (clearly we're not making fun of anyone naming a venture after themselves ... that would be a tad hypocritical.) MacDowell will bring four teams—Girls HS and U16, Boys HS and U16.
Carolina GU Selects. As the title says, they are from the Carolinas and they have Men's and Women's teams in the open categories.
Scion Rugby. Just a couple of weeks after playing in the USA Rugby Club National Championships (coming this weekend) Scion will be off seeking more glory in the Women's Elite bracket. Belmont Shore men will do the same double.
