Major Rankings Games in HS This Weekend
The matchup of the week is #3 school team Herriman taking on #4 club team United.
We doubt either team will come out of this too damaged. Instead, though, this is an excellent chance for both teams to test themselves, and also to give us at GRR World Headquarters another useful data point comparing club teams and school teams. But we also get that with Aspetuck vs Staples.
We will also see the #1 club, Granite Bay, in action, while the #1 school, St. Ignatius, wraps up its quite successful tour of France.

Several important games are schedule in Texas, while in Florida we finalize the playoff matchups with this week's games. Boca and Cardinal Gibbons are fighting it out for the #1 seed, but not against each other.
Northern California sees eight ranked teams playing against each other. Now we know that critics might point out that we are perhaps rankings all of these teams in a bubble. That's not completely true—Jesuit, De La Salle, and Granite Bay have all played teams outside their region—but it's also a fair criticism. We expect teams to play across borders, and yet Northern California, Southern California (somewhat), and Utah get a bit of a pass. But that happens only as long as those regions continue to perform on a national stage, which they do, and not just one or two teams, either.
Coming up, Granite Bay will tour Ireland and Snow Canyon (aka Te Mana) plays at San Diego.
Maryland, Oklahoma, and Illinois get moving in league play. Also, and not listed below because there are 20 games, the Iowa Youth Rugby boys HS 7s season starts. Iowa plays 7s as their season and 17 teams are involved in the 2A and 1A leagues. Teams generally play two games on each evening's action. the season kicks off tonight, April 1.
