Gonzaga Puts Forth Hunt to the Sword
In a game that was postponed to Monday due to weather, #2 school team Gonzaga defeated #5 HS club team Fort Hunt 48-7.
Fort Hunt Head Coach Dale Roach was pretty clear on how that game went. “They were very good in every phase of the game,” said Roach. “When we made mistakes they made us pay.”
It was early days still for both teams but Gonzaga has a lot of the pieces.
“We’ve had an excellent preseason, being able to train at school,” said Gonzaga Head Coach Peter Baggetta. “We have an outstanding sophomore class of players who are on our top team, which gives us good depth.”
But they’re not a finished product.
“There are still lots of areas that need work,” Baggetta said. “I think we are still developing as a team. Playing 20 games this year before Nationals and not just five games [like in 2021] will be a big help in terms of developing experience and depth.
