Goff Goes Live To Answer Reader Concerns
Goff Rugby Report Editor Alex Goff was on Facebook Live for an hour Sunday to discuss issues related to USA Rugby's troubles.
Goff answered questions from readers and also made some points of his own.
You can see the entire video below (if you don't see the embedded video, please refresh the page).
But some highlights:
1. Criticism of how the national teams contributed to the USA Rugby problems is NOT criticism of the players. The national team players want the best for youth, high school, college, and club rugby, as well as the refs and other members.
2. We're not getting back on the field soon, and just because some states are easing restrictions on things like walking in the park and grocery shopping doesn't mean we're going to be playing rugby anytime soon.
3. The organization of college rugby is more complicated than many people know, and World Rugby's Regulation 16 might well force NCR to hammer out a membership deal with USA Rugby even if they don't want to.
4. Insurance premiums will likely go up for senior clubs.
5. The makeup of USA Rugby's Board makes sense when you take into account various USOPC and federal rules, the need to be equal in 7s and 15s and in genders, and if you take into account the fact that international athletes still want the best for the game as a whole.
6. Why can USA Rugby apologize for the debacle?
And much more.
