DII Championship All-Tourney Team Named

The All-Tournament Team for the Women’s DII College Spring Championship was chosen a little differently than the DI team (see the squad here). Two of the four programs nominated players from their squad and the opposition, and the national team talent scout identified another six final-four stars. Therefore, rather than build out a 23-player roster, we stuck with the starting 15 and added Honorable Mentions.

The scout’s recommendations trumped those of the coaches (in the name of impartiality and scope), so there were some conflicts, but the Honorable Mentions hope to rectify some of those issues. There are two circumstances worth noting: Three outside centers were tabbed for All American consideration, so room needed to be made for those players – which is why Florida International’s Ashaunte Stroman is listed as a wing. Also, CSU Northridge back Yesenia Camacho had to play two positions this weekend – she started at outside center on Saturday and moved to flyhalf when an injury necessitated the switch. Camacho performed well, but flyhalf didn’t allow her express herself fully, but she’s on the Honorable Mention list.
