The annual Medstar National Rehab Hospital 7s tournament is set to return as the even celebrates its 10th anniversary.
First held on November 22, 2014 and hosted by Great Falls Rugby in Virginia, this event has raised $16,500 for the Medstar Adaptive Sports Program in DC—the Medstar Adaptive Sports Program empowers individuals with physical disabilities to pursue healthy and active lifestyles through recreational and competitive sports.
This project was put together by coach Gary Coetzee in an effort to honor the people at NRH and the hard work they perform to improve the quality of the lives of their patients. Gary himself is a patient at NRH following a neck injury and is able to walk again after being quadriplegic. He gives most of the credit for his recovery to his therapists at the Medstar National Rehab Hospital.
