Boys School Top 50 2024: Week 14

We had some major rankings upsets this past week. Pelham, #21, beat #2 Xavier. Now, we're not completely sold that Pelham could duplicate Xavier's results throughout the season—this was a good wakeup call for Xavier for sure and it's defintiely evidence that Pelham is very good. But week-after-week-after-week? That's the question. We'll see Pelham in person at the Gonzaga Classic this weekend so we'll know something then. Can Xavier do something to make this loss not as prominent in their record? Certainly. But we have had to move Pelham up and Xavier down after this result. Same story for BC High and we'll see those Eagles this weekend. Are they really a potential Top-10 team? Note sure. Maybe. Overall this has been a really weird year for school teams. Every one of them, save for Gonzaga, has shown some vulnerability. This might well be an indication of better competitive balance. Or it might mean something else.
