The Atlantis U16s won the 2024 Old Northstate 15s tournament over the weekend in Greensboro, NC.
Outscoring opponents 133-49 over the course of four shortened games in two days, the Atlantis U16s drew players from Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware, and included players who had only played 7s until this tournament. The tournament was decided on overall record, and Atlantis finished 3-0-1, Young Glory was 2nd at 2-2, and North Carolina 3rd with a record of 0-3-1.
Flyhalf Jamie Weir led the offense brilliantly and his communication and understanding of the game was crucial for Atlantis.
"His ability to see the field is unmatched in this age group," said Head Coach Jessica Nedzwecky. He was also one of the 11 different players who scored tries for Atlantis. Weir scored two, and was 15-for-20 on conversions. Along with one penalty goal he logged 43 points fr the tournament.
Scrumhalf Jackson Reilly, created the space for multiple tries with his precise passing, agility, quick taps, and overall smart play. Max Titter and Chris Imperato were standouts among the forwards in all-around play on both sides of the ball. Henry Wallace led from the fullback position, keeping the team organized on defense and aggressively inserting himself in the backline when we had the ball.
