Texas Nuclear Thunder defeated Woodlands over the weekend to take the Texas girls state title.
TNT opened the season losing to Woodlands, but felt they were slowly inching closer to the defending champions. They won over Woodlands in their second meeting, and their third, before capping it off with a state championship.
TNT is a relatively new team, as this is only their third season in existence. The program has attracted more and more players. Emerson Callegari, daughter of Head Coach Charles, has been outstanding, but players such as Jada Zaragoza, Seven Suesue, and Jacoriah Washington also bring a combination of athleticism, speed, and a desire to play team rugby.

“These girls have worked very hard and continue to do so,” said Charles Callegari. “The junior high team has come a long way and the coaching staff couldn’t be prouder of them.”
“Our defense was amazing,” said Charles Callegari. “We practically played six on seven because our sweeper in the back field did not have to make any tackles. The defense line dominated. Jacoriah Washington was a master tackler and poaching monster. These girls have trained hard all season and I am so proud of them.”
