All-Time American List: Alev Kelter

A hockey player throughout her formative years and on into college, Alev Kelter also played soccer and quickly showed herself to be a natural athlete.

She was the biggest success story of the late Ric Suggit's campaign to bring crossover athletes to the USA women's 7s team. We say that because not only did she make the team and become a regular player, and not only did she became a star and a world-class 7s player, but she became one of the the main playmakers and also the team's main kicker. That's an indication of her being a true student of the game, and an indication of how she learned the finer points of understanding space, and how she learned the technical skills of the drop kick well enough to be her team's first-choice kicker.

In addition, she made the USA 15s team and played superbly in the Rugby World Cup in 2017. This is no mean feat. To go from not knowing the game at all to learning it well enough to be a center or fullback for a world cup 15s team also shows great intelligence as well as athleticism.

Kelter has made every team she plays for better. She is one of the very best 7s players in the world. She is physical, aggressive, and also a playmaker who has a delicate touch when needed. If you need a team to go forward, Alev Kelter will do it.
