The South Independent Rugby Conference's two Men's DIAA divisions get going in September, with two-time national champion and 2014-15 runner up Central Florida leading the field once again.
UCF won the DIAA championships in the spring of 2013 and 2014, and were edged by UC Davis 18-15 in the 2015 final, part of a remarkable run for the Knights. As usual, there is a long list of teams gunning for the knights, including Florida International, which defeated UCF in the opening game of the season last year. FIU faded late, but had a strong 7s summer and could well be a team to watch in the South Division once more.
Middle Tennessee State returns as the defending SIRC North champion, but it's worth noting that no team was undefeated in league play last year, and MTSU has to be concerned about how Kennesaw State has been improving.
The season opens with MTSU visiting KSU, a very early test of where those teams are. The teams in the South and North divisions play each other twice, and then the top two from each division face off in the semis on November 21, with the final a day later.
Florida Atlantic, 2-6 last year and last in the South division, does not return for the fall of 2015.
