LANGFORD, British Columbia – Brian Doyle and Tim Stanfill represent the only two changes made to the Eagles Select XV starting roster by Head Coach Mike Tolkin for the upcoming 2014 IRB Americas Rugby Championship match against Canada ‘A.’

Doyle and Stanfill replace Graham Harriman and Lemoto Filikitonga at flanker and wing, respectively. Andrew Durutalo, Folau Niua, and Zack Test have joined the team in British Columbia after winning the Bowl at Gold Coast Sevens, the first leg of the 2014-15 IRB HSBC Sevens World Series, with the Men’s Eagles Sevens and will be available for the match from the reserves. Phil Thiel will serve as match captain.

The Eagles’ tournament-opening, 41-14, loss to the Argentina Jaguars Saturday does not kill the team’s hopes of winning the ARC, with wins in the two remaining matches and an Argentina loss enough to flip the table.

The Eagles also began last year’s ARC at Westhills Stadium with a loss to Argentina. Tolkin’s side improved throughout the week, however, and used wins against Canada ‘A’ and Uruguay to finish second behind the Jaguars.

In last year’s match against Canada ‘A,’ Tim Maupin scored two tries in a 30-10 win. The match also featured Danny Barrett, Cam Dolan, and Tai Tuisamoa, who have each spent time with professional clubs in England since the tournament.

Canada ‘A’ won its first match of its home tournament, 20-6, against Uruguay Saturday. Hours before kickoff in Montevideo, Uruguay, the full national team defeated Russia in the second leg of the IRB Rugby World Cup Qualifier to claim the final spot in England.

Kickoff for the match between the Eagles Select XV and Canada ‘A’ is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 15, at 11:00 P.M. ET at Westhills Stadium. The match will be streamed live online on Rugby Canada TV. Follow @USARugby on Twitter for live match updates.
