Wisconsin Girls All-Stars Selected
The Wisconsin girsl all-star team is set to travel to Indiana for the Midwest All-Star Challenge.
The team has already played a warmup match, defeating Illinois 27-22, and also winning the extra period played for the reserves.
Illinois actually took an early lead in that game before captain Alexa Jaeger of Catholic Memorial poached a ball in the ruck and raced over.
Illinois responded and led 10-7, but tries from Myra Dillett and Meaghan Schmitt (both of Catholic Memorial) put Wisconsin ahead to stay at 17-10.
Oak Creek's Megan Bird and Kettle Moraine's Caelee Whiteaker also scored for Wisconsin.
"We have a bunch of interesting players," said Coach Jeff Noe, "and we are excited to see how they come together this weekend."
Wisconsin will play Ohio JVs in the opening round of what has now become an eight-team bracket-style tournament. Ohio, Indiana, Minnesota, Illinois, Michigan, and Indiana JVs are also in the tournament.
