Nia Toliver Bowls Them Over in NZ

View Park HS and ICEF rugby player Nia Toliver is turning heads in New Zealand as she attend the Burnside High School Sports Leadership Academy.

Spending the New Zealand winter down south, Toliver has earned the nickname of the American Lomu for her thundering running style. The 16-year-old has been playing 10s rugby (no back row, two fewer backs) and has been virtually unstoppable, scoring 21 tries in only four games.

Toliver told local TV that she is a good runner with the ball but is in New Zealand to learn some of the finer aspects of the game and develop her passing and defense.

Still, the imposing young athlete, who runs a sub-12-second 100 meters, has her sites set on the national team, and her performance in New Zealand isn’t doing anything to hurt that plan.

Below is a video of Nia Toliver in an interview with a New Zealand TV show, The 4:30 Show.
