Fullerton Torches All in Cali Games Win
In winning the California State Games girls division, the Fullerton Girls team outscored their opposition 137-10.
Only South Bay scored against them, as the two teams traded tries before Fullerton ran away late 24-10.
It was nothing more than what was expected, said Fullerton coach Ravi Perera.
"We went in there with a plan and expectations," said Perera. "We had prepared well and we were there to win it."
Unfortunately, while invited, Northern California teams did not make the trip south to participate, so this state tournament was all SoCal. But regardless, teams would have had a difficult sticking with Fullerton, which played a fluid brand of 7s.
Leading the way was Tanner Quinto, who led all scorers in the tournament, and prop Johanna Pasutin, who dominated up front and in set piece, and was awarded the tournament MVP award. Anakaren Pedraza picked up where she left off playing for the Southern California all-stars and was an imposing runner all weekend.
