Bowling Green v AIC a Must-See
Bowling Green v AIC a Must-See
American International College is an athletic and balanced rugby team that won all of its league games this season.
The Yellowjackets were upended by Kutztown in a non-conference game, but they were dominant in the ECRC, scoring 317 and allowing only 64 in going 6-0. Now the question is, is it good enough? Is the ECRC a strong conference? They find out Saturday with their ACRC Bowl game against MAC winners Bowling Green.
The Falcons won all four of their league MAC games, and both of their games against MAC opponents that don’t count in the standings. Only once did they score fewer than 40 points. Only twice fewer than 60. Seventeen different Falcons scored points this season.
So this is a clash of teams with big records and big offenses. It’s a clash of teams that have tested themselves outside their conference (Bowling Green defeated Ohio State by two points, while AIC lost to Kutztown 41-27).
Both have players who are talented try-scorers - Mike Powell for BGSU and Christian Adams for AIC. Both have hard-nosed forwards led by tough second rows (Frank Viancourt and Connor Gleason). This could be the highest-scoring game of the day, and the most exciting. What we will see is a program that has a lot of history (Bowling Green) and a program that’s really still just getting started (AIC). And both have a lot to prove.
