University of Dayton’s defeat of Miami of Ohio set them up nicely to be top in the MAC South.
It was a tight game down to the wire, with a late try turning a 16-14 deficit into a 21-16 victory. And the game marked a step forward for Dayton, which has been looking to raise its profile over the last few years.
Central to that is captain and prop Conor Squier. The Gonzaga HS product has been an important leader on a team climbing the ladder, and is our Aircraft Charter Solutions Player of the Week.
“We had a lot of new players come in last year and at the same time had a bunch of injuries, so last year was tough,” Squier told Goff Rugby Report. “But that gave us some depth. The guys put in a lot of work this fall and the work they put in started showing in the games.
“Conor has been huge for us,” chimed in fellow prop and club president Ryan Burdine. “He’s our captain, he’s the guy we look to.”
The History and Education double major hopes to be a high school history teacher some day, and take his love of rugby to a school somewhere.
“I’d love to start a rugby program at a school where I’m teaching,” he said “I just love the sport.”
Well that’s a pretty good reason right there to make him our Aircraft Charter Solutions Player of the Week.
