Four teams are left in the hunt of the Men’s DII College 7s Championships, as the pool play and the quarterfinals are done.
In the quarterfinals, Minnesota-Duluth had their hands full against Texas San Antonio, and were just an unconverted try ahead late in the game at 10-5, before a final Fighting Penguins try put them up 15-5.
Lindenwood Belleville, which had started so shakily on Friday, blew past Salve Regina 31-5. Saint Louis University and Salisbury played the tightest game of the quarters. Salisbury ran out to a 12-0 lead with tries from Patrick Mullens and Robert Rapine. But SLU finished the first half with a try from Conor Brady, converted by Jake Livingston.
And then in the second half Livingston scored early - sidestepping his way through the line and then racing in under the posts - to nudge his side ahead 14-12, and then late to seal it 19-12.
And finally Wisconsin-Whitewater handled an adventurous Principia 27-17. Whitewater ran out to a 27-0 first-half lead, and then saw Principia come back with a try at the end of the first half, and two more in the second. However, it took way too long for Principia to get those tries, and they just didn’t have enough time.
