Men DI College Rankings Week 11 - New #1
Men DI College Rankings Week 11 - New #1
After deep deliberations, here are the Week 11 Goff Rugby Report All-DI Men's College rankings.
As we said earlier, if Life won big over Army, they had a shot at leapfrogging idle (as far as 15s goes) Cal and BYU. They did, and they did. The Running Eagles are #1. For the moment.
The ACRC Bowl Games produced other dynamic shifts in the rankings. The ECRC showed itself to be perhaps a stronger conference all-around than we thought. AIC, Boston College, Middlebury, and UMass all got bumps upward thanks to their results this past weekend in Charlotte (Middlebury didn't play, but they move up by association).
The MAC took a hit thanks to their latest results, although not a huge one. Alabama moves into the Top 50 thanks to their defeat of Tennessee.
Stony Brook and West Virginia were a weird pair. Stony Brook beat WVU over the weekend, but you could argue that the Mountaineers, which outscored the Seawolves four tries (all unconverted) to three (all converted) were the better team. We toyed with the idea of keeping WVU ahead of Stony Brook, but decided that was just being silly - results are results, and kicking is part of rugby. If you aren't able to kick your conversions - difficult as they were in this instance - then you shouldn't get credit for the points ex post factor.
The Florida teams (Central and International and University of) drop out of the Top 50, but we expect someone will be back in soon enough. The Californian teams get moving soon and more shakeups should be expected.
