The top three teams from 2013 in the East Coast Collegiate Conference all won their opening games in the 2014 season.
AIC defeated Northeastern 46-5. Middlebury beat Albany 25-14, and Boston College handed UMass a 31-3 defeat.
AIC looked very convincing as they unleashed their high-powered offense, and the wet weather in the Northeast didn’t hurt them on their turf field. Kurtis Werner opened the scoring with a try for the Yellow Jackets, and Christian Adams added one to make it 12-0 with Bryce Neff’s conversion. More tries followed, as Adrian Ray, and Gavin Score touched down, followed by another from Werner and another from Ray. JIhad Khabir capped off the tries as AIC put everyone on notice.
Jake Feury was the big scorer for MIddlebury, as the experience backs kicked a penalty and a conversion, and scored two tries, while Laird Silsby and Adam Markun also touched down in the 25-14 victory over Albany.
Boston College were happy to see Joey D’Atonio bring his kicking boots, as he kicked three penalties to put BC up 9-0 over UMass. Tries from Willy Hock and Danny Schatzman made it 19-3 at halftime, and then Ryan McCoy scored twice in the second half for the 31-3 victory.
Next week, AIC hosts Albany, Middlebury visits UMass, and BC hosts UConn, who had a bye this week.
